Birla Balika Vidyapeeth, Pilani, created history at Young Scientist India (YSI) 2025, powered by Space Kids India in association with the Office of the Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India, as Shagun Kesarwani (Grade XII) with her project Stova was declared the Second Runner-Up. She was awarded a Trophy and a cash prize of INR 15,000 by an eminent panel comprising Dr. Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, Honourable Education Minister of Tamil Nadu, Mr. G. Sathish Kumar, Scientist/Engineer-SG & Deputy Project Director, SDSC-SHAR, ISRO, Mr. Hugues Boiteau, Scientific and Academic Attaché of France in Chennai, and Mr. Nagendra Kumar Kunkatla, Vice President, Hexaware Technologies Ltd.

This milestone capped two glorious days of achievement for BBV at YSI 2025. Out of 1300 abstracts received nationwide, 173 projects were shortlisted for the national showcase. From these, 11 BBV students namely Shagun Kesarwani, Rashmi Sinha, Nitya Joshi, Svadhi Panwar, Paavni Grover, Hrishita Goswami, Pakhi Chaurasiya, Sukriti Singhania, Preksha Jain, Anokhi and Pragya Keshri qualified as National Finalists, each receiving a Finalist Trophy and Certificate.

On Day 1, three students — Nitya Joshi (Grade XI), Rashmi Sinha (Grade XII), and Shagun Kesarwani (Grade XII) — secured places among the Top 9 innovators in the Private School category, winning Gold Medals and Certificates of Achievement, awarded by Dr. Prakasha Rao, Former Director, SIPO, ISRO-HQ and IN-SPACe.

Further adding to the laurels, Hrishita Goswami(Grade 12) received a medal and special mention for her superlative performance in the Quiz event, reflecting the diverse talents of BBV students.

Recognising the guiding force behind these successes, the three escort teachers Dr.Sandhya Vyas, Dr. Nima Joseph and Mr.Shobhit Daga, were felicitated with the ‘Mentor of Change Award, by Dr. Srimathy Kesan, Founder & CEO of Space Kids India.

The YSI 2025 journey proved to be a proud moment for BBV, as its students not only showcased innovation and scientific spirit but also emerged as national achievers, bringing honour and inspiration to the institution.
