Students exchange programme between Birla Balika Vidyapeeth Pilani and Sushila Birla Girls’ School Kolkata

Theme: Know my state (Culture and Education)

On 15th January 2024, 14 students from Class VI & VII of Birla Balika Vidyapeeth, Pilani travelled to Kolkata, West Bengal to engage in a week-long exchange programme (15 to 22 Jan 2024) with Sushila Birla Girl's School, Kolkata. They were accompanied by Dr. Sathi Sampad Roy and Ms. Sonam Saini.
The students of both the schools worked together on a common project titled ‘Know my State: Culture and Education’. Jointly, the students from both the schools worked on a journal describing the historical background of St. Paul's cathedral church, Victoria memorial, M. P. Birla Planetarium, Swami Vivekananda museum, Science City, Nehru Children museum, Jorasanko thakurbari, Kumartuli and Indian museum of Kolkata.
They also studied the predominant shapes evident in important monuments, population density, historical figures, cuisine, art forms (Pata chitra), dance styles and music typical of West Bengal. The trip comprised visits to places of historical interest and Mystery room, Ferry ghat, Alipore zoo, 47th International Kolkata Book fair with their peer host parents.
A complete immersion in the educational system of a day school like Sushila Birla Girls' School and home stay in peer parents had a deep impact on the minds of all the participants who have had a wonderful experience in the day school away from the residential school in Kolkata.
In the month of October, a delegation from Sushila Birla Girls’ School visited Birla Balika Vidyapeeth, Pilani with the purpose of reinforcing common traditions and experiencing life in a residential school.
